The Story Behind L i g h t s e e d s Jewelry
Color is a powerful force in our lives and can affect our moods, behavior, and stress level. I've been especially sensitive to color for years and discovered that the color clothing I wear affects my moods. For many years I couldn't wear black without becoming depressed, while other colors really made me feel good.
I also collected crystals and stones for years, wearing them, displaying them in my home, and using them for healing along with Reiki. My interest in lapidary led me to learn how to make jewelry and I discovered glass beads held an energy as gemstones do. As I worked with the vividly colored glass, I became aware that the colors were working on me. They reached out to me and inspired me to design jewelry with an energy unlike any I'd felt before. I discovered my heart would sing as I worked with the glass and stones and I knew something powerful was going on.
One day I had the insight that glass is made of sand which is composed of the same silica that is in quartz crystal. When I read that the beautiful stained glass windows in cathedrals were designed to impress people with awe of the spiritual energies there, I realized that colored glass and gemstone jewelry can do the same thing. I felt drawn to learn more about the power of color, and I realized that jewelry, as well as clothing and environment can have a powerful, positive impact on people.
I enjoy creating jewelry through inspiration. I will be drawn to work with a particular color, bead, gemstone, or pendant, or I'll keep seeing a design in my mind's eye that I need to create in the physical. I enjoy working with angels as well as with different healing energies, and I like to think of my pieces spreading the Light as they are worn. I think of us all as beings of Light living in a dense, often difficult world, and since vivid colors can be used to heal and spread light, I came up with the name Lightseeds. After all, isn't that what we are?
